Feeling Tired, Bone Pain With A Side Of Lemon Juice!!

Have been feeling tired!! Tons of achy bone pain from the Neulasta, which making lots of red and white blood cells and blue platelets (kidding about the blue, it just went with the red and white!) Very emotional from everything, including the 4 days days of steroids, and the bone pain and PMS. Then went out to Bertuccis for pizza Sun evening and Dave squeezed a lemon into his ice tea, and it hit me square in the left eye, and I lost it in the middle of the restaraunt :( Doing better today......Mom took Em for the day while I went and met with the Radiation Oncologist at Jordan Hospital. I really liked him, went over all the radiation good and bad things. Good, I may get a lift on the left boob from the heat, bad, Dr. B may need to lift my right to match it up later! I go back Oct 11th for the simulation and probably will start by the end of October with that part of this story. Hair is still intact, day 8 post chemo, they say 14-17 days! Yikes! I keep running my hand thru it to see if a chunk comes out, not yet!! Picked up the new wig the other day, it looks nice! Will have to get photos on-line as soon as I need to wear it! I will probably be in hats mostly!! You know me, I am a tom-boy! Will write more soon!! Kristin

The lemon juice in the eye is enough to send even the sanest individual over the edge...but add to that, steroids and chemo and chemically induced menopause and bone pain caused massive quantities of white blood cells being produced (neulasta does not effect the reds or platelets so don't go blaming those poor little cells! LOL!) and the fact that your hair may start coming out is enough to send one into hysteria... I do hope you had yourself a good cry and got some good hugs from Dave and Emma to calm you...not to mention VMC with tons of jimmies...let me know if you need an ice cream delivery!
XOXO

Thanks Robin!! I thought the Neulasta did all the cells, thank God it does not b/c I think I would not survive that!! Much better today...seems to come in waves of pain, some days are fine, others kill me! Same with the hormones!! Went and bought some VMC yesterday, it helps! VMC for you people who know not what we speak of is Friendly's Vienna Mocha Chunk Ice Cream, the BEST!! Especially in a cup with extra Jimmies (or sprinkles for you out of MA people!) So the speak is "VMC double scoop in a cup with extra J's" Its a Robin and I thing!

Neulasta does the white cells...procrit/epogen is for the reds if your Hct drops...there is no magic bullet for the platelets at this point in time...and when that marrow starts becoming packed with new cells, it hurts like hell! Glad to hear that you are better. VMC is probably the best treatment so be sure you have some on hand at any given moment!! This is day 9 so you are reaching your nadir (or low point) and may feel like shit...nap if you need to...cry if you want...and eat ice cream if you must! I love you!

XOXO
Robin

PS...how is Dave holding up on this roller coaster of emotions

Thank God you have such a wonderful family and support system. Even though you are not used to this....you NEED to lean on all of them and take all the love and comfort they can give you. It will help you stay strong.

I'm praying for all of you.

Love, Cindy

I once almost got arrested after losing it at Jeff at Windsor Castle. (Betsy was with us, ask her and I don't have any drugs to blame!!) Be well Kristin, do you want me to take Em for the day? This week is good, the next two are a bit crazed.....Keep the VMC with extra jimmies on hand darling.....m

We have survived the Ironman Triathalon in Lake Placid, NY, and Arnold is an official "Ironman" Actually, I like to call him and "IRONDICK" I'll tell you all about the fiasco at the finish line later, but let's just say that if it was in a Chevy Chase Vacation movie, it would he a very memorable scene. Anyway, Kristin, shall I make you some immune boosting shakes? They have things like carrot juice celery juice add some strawberries and some kind of grass. Very tasty, although not as refresning as diet coke. Ann Finnie has alot of recipies that she gives cancer patients who see her for Rakei, reflexology and Candeling (you may benefit from those as well)

Lisa, you can call Arnold anything you want, and I am sure he would actually like you calling him "irondick" some steamy night! To all my friends laughing right now, Lisa did have a stressful w/e in Lake Placid with Irondick and non-eater Charlotte! We must come up with a better name for Arnold though!!! Kristin

Yes, girls I was laughing at Arnold's new nickname "irondick"! Does he actually have an issue being called that or is that something he is happy to hear?!! Those immune boosting shakes sound yummy, just stay away from the lemons!

Hi Kristin,

Janet gave me your blogger page. I just wanted to let you know that we are rooting for you. I received you well wishes and reassurance last April when William was in the Children's Hospital. It did help keep me calm. I already suspected that you were brave, but there was no need to prove it! Of course, this could strike any of us when we least suspect it. I know that I'm not a cancer professional, but I hope that you don't mind if I throw my two cents in.... one wig?? You may be a tomboy, but you're a woman...you NEED seven, at least. I wish you good luck in the next few days, I will be checking in with you here. The pictures with your family are terrific. Emma looks like a beautiful little girl. Love, Eva
